Matthew Yapchaian
I am Matthew Yapchaian, a MFA candidate in New Media studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign's (UIUC) Art and Design program completing completing my studies this summer; I received a BFA in Film/Animatio/Video from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1999. I am interested in interface/interaction/experience design through the production of technologically mediated social experiences. My current research includes: cinematic narrative, social media, montage as sociality, ephemeral non-destructive graffiti, peripheral presence, fine art, and asynchronous live communication.
I am currently researching image-based communication between remote individuals. Post Image is an asynchronous live collaborative authoring environment installed on a user's personal computer desktop to facilitate communication amongst other Postimage users on a private or public network through a shared editable desktop wallpaper image.
Mobile Post is a mobile platform image-based communication technology inspired by Post Image.
